| Most
fish thrive within a limited pH range, determined
by the water in which they are native or reared.
General symptoms of pH shock include
heavy slime production, red fins, labored respiration,
discoloration and death. Fritz pH Blocks are formulated
to adjust and maintain the specific pH values
fish require for optimal health. Fish kept at
optimum pH values exhibit less stress, are resistant
to disease, have better color and spawn more.
When proper pH is reached, add the appropriate
pH Block to maintain the desired level. A downward
pH drift is a natural phenomenon. .
Over
time, water becomes more acidic with a lower pH.
The natural checks & balances found in nature
are missing in an aquarium. Water changes will
not make up for this decline; pH will even fall
between weekly water changes. Natural buffers
must be replaced to maintain a stable pH. Thats
why Fritz pH Blocks are so handy; they work by
slowly dissolving. As the Fritz pH block dissolves,
it releases natural buffers that keep the pH at
the target level. Each block maintains pH for
up to two months with a pH variation of ±
0.2. Only one block per ten gallons is needed.
After two months the block will have dissolved;
replace with a new one. Fritz pH Blocks work best
if water is first adjusted within 0.5 pH units
of ideal pH. Using a pH Block after pH adjustment
will avoid "pH rebound". If you are
within 0.5 pH units of your goal, just toss in
a tablet. They can safely be put in the filter,
on the bottom of the tank or anywhere there is
good water flow. |
